FM & MW Radio are set to last a bit longer!

The government have announced this week that the impending ‘Radio Digital Switchover’ is not realistic.

Originally set as the end of 2015, it has been recognised that there is still much to do to ensure DAB digital radio can be received in all homes, workplaces, vehicles and portable sets.
Whilst sets for these locations have been available for years now, there are still many listeners who don’t have access to DAB everywhere they want it.

Motor manufacturers are one of the worst offenders by still insisting on installing analogue radios and antennas in most vehicles. Making it harder to simply swap the set as the vehicle antenna and cable must also be changed to ensure reliable reception.

The industry is no stranger to switchover having now completed the TV Switchover, we know this will definitely happen… There’s just a bit more work to do than industry and government had hoped so far.

So, for those who still have analogue sets… Come on, pull your socks up!!!
